SM Entertainment has officially announced today that it will not attend Mnet’s year-end award ceremony 2009 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) to be held on the 21st of this month.SM explained the reason for its absence from the ceremony, saying that it “cannot trust the fairness of ’s award recipient selection system, which is similar to the ranking selection criteria of Mnet’s representative music programme .”“While SNSD’s topped charts consecutively for nine weeks on other music programmes, it did not once win number one on ,” explained SM. “It only made it into the top ten ranking in February, a month after the song’s release.”“Therefore, being inconfident of Mnet’s ranking criteria, singers under SM such as Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee and f(x) will not attend the ceremony.
